4 months

Adon turned 4 months last Saturday. It's hard to believe it's been 4 months already! It seems like only a few weeks ago, Jer was saying, "We did it!" when Adon was born! He's up to 15 pounds and he has another doctor's check-up in a couple of weeks. I'm curious how that visit will go, because we'll be telling Dr. Knight that we don't want to follow the traditional vaccine schedule. We'll be postponing most of his shots until his little body is more developed and his nervous system and immune system are better equipped to handle the "attacks" from the germs introduced through the vaccines. I've learned a lot from reading, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Childhood Vaccinations." We've already learned some things that we'll do differently with baby #2.

I'm very much looking forward to staying at home full-time. Only 37 more working days...or 3 more months working 3 days a week!

Dr. Richard Knight? He is our pediatrician too. We have Madeline's 4 month appt coming up next week too...when is your appt?

Ours is on the 15th. We couldn't get the appointment any closer to his 4 month birthday because of all of the back to school physicals.

I need more baby pictures to put on my computer at work for my slide show screen saver! Adon is way too adorable to limit him to a few pictures!!!!!!

I'm scared to see how much Madeline weighs! Two weeks ago at an appt (she had a bladder infection) she was 16 lbs 11 oz!!! Yeah...she will be four months on the 11th...she likes to eat...

Holy cow!! I thought Adon liked to eat, but I don't think Adon will weigh that much at the dr next week and he'll be almost 5 months!! Are you breastfeeding or using formula?

Definitely breast feeding...Kylie was on the same growth track until she started sleeping through the night and then her weight dropped off. She weighed at a year what Madeline weighs right now!

When did Kylie start sleeping through the night? Has Madeline started sleeping all night?

Kylie was sleeping 12 hrs at night at 5 weeks...I'm lucky to get 6-7 out of Madeline and it's inconsistent. What about Adon? It's so happy when you get through those first nights- even though you wake up wondering if they are still alive!

Adon's been sleeping 12 hours since about 8 weeks. I read Preparation for Parenting by the Ezzos, which helped us to get him over the hump from 6-7 hours to 12 hours. I'll definitely use those principles from day one with the next baby.

Yeah...Kylie was doing 12 hours on her own, so I never really learned any principles. I will know for next time though!!! I do know that this time I promised myself I would not hold a baby until they fell asleep...still reaping the effects of that with the eldest. On a side note...Madeline went for her 4 month check up today- 17 lbs 3 oz, 24 1/2 inches. Woo hoo for breast milk! Poor baby...2 shots does not make her happy...

Holy moly...I'll bet Madeline's got some rolls. :o) Adon was 24" at 2 months! He's probably around 16 pounds now...we'll find out on Friday. Not sure if we'll be getting any shots on Friday. You could probably still incorporate some of the principles from Preparation for Parenting with Madeline if you want her to start sleeping longer at night. When will you guys start adding cereal?

Abby said...

We started trying cereal this week...she's fine with it, but not crazy about it. Yes re: rolls- so many!!! Wow! Adon is a tall boy! Surprised? Not so much! Have you started Adon on cereal yet? We didnt do Kylie until 6 mos...

No cereal yet. I was going to try to wait closer to 6 months, but we'll see what Dr. Knight says. Adon only has 1 roll on the inside of each leg. He's pretty lean for a baby. I'm really curious how he'll fit on the charts.

Kylie was really lean...The nurse practitioner there told us she wanted us to have her gain weight, and I was like, uh...she eats plenty. I'm sure he'll stack up fine...he's healthy and happy which is what matters. I think it's funny that we are using your blog to communicate, btw!

I thought about that, too. You could email me and we could avoid having to go to the blog everytime we reply. lo. theshindels@gmail.com
